Launching the E-Boutique

Hello lovelies!
Quick update to say I turn 20 in half an hour and.. I've just launched my online store! After months of deliberating and trying to get everything perfect I've decided to just bite the bullet and get it up! I'de hoped to have a complete collection at the time of launch, but other commitments were getting in the way and I realised that if I didn't start with just a few products months would go by and it just wouldn't happen. Anyway! I'l be spending the rest of my weekend relaxing and enjoying my birthday, the end of my teenage years. You can visit the store at www.pamelaparkerlabel.com and I would love to hear your thoughts on it, there are still a few problems with it, It still doesn't work on the Iphone and I'm yet to check on the pad, shipping is confusing and I unfortunately don't have a model or photographer willing and following me around so I've had to do these things myself (although I am not in any way good at it!) so For the opening shipping is free and everything is half price!

Pleasure & Pain : The Concept

Pleasure and pain are two strong complimentary emotions that are linked by a biological connection; Through the chemical balance of dopamine, the brain responds in giving a feeling of either pleasure or pain and this is across all life forms in nature.
Pleasure and pain are complimentary with each other, sometimes the best feeling of pleasure is only achieved after enduring a great deal of pain.
This reward is one that motivates the contorting of ballerinas in performance and in nature  shown in the classic example of roses, the pain inducing thorns shield the beauty of the roses.

Pleasure & Pain : Research

Hello Lovelies!

I've returned to college and it's our busiest year yet, I'm expected to do basically double the hours I'm at college (which is four days a week) at home doing homework and assessments so I'm extremely tired and busy! I've found that most of our subjects this year somewhat click together, they're about building our brand which is exciting, and makes the work seem less like work and more fun.

We received our brief for this collection; Bio-Dynamic.. It's vague and not really my kind of thing so I've twisted it to suit me, I researched the neurotransmitter in the brain, dopamine which is basically responsible for pleasure and pain, and so I'm exploring the concept of pleasure being the absence of pain and vice versa; This is well reflected in ballet, and being on pointe and the contortions of the body (which I've also started, and am awful at it), roses and the thorns,  but the concept is also one that can come across as something quite sexy (thanks 50 shades of grey..) which works when i think about going into lingerie-esque evening wear. This collection is to be an autumn/winter evening wear which features two female bodies and one male body.

We've also been asked to do a bunch of fabric experiments, my favourite was a batik style one i did, but I also love another that was around the reactions of ink with salt and vinegar. Not sure if I'll actually end up using either one in my designs however.

The 1920's Boudoir

Hello my loves!

Lately I've been teaching myself how to pattern-make and sew lingerie as it's been something I've wanted to do for the longest time and is such a passion for me.  I couldn't wait till I went back to college to finally learn so I've even placed an order for a few Lingerie books to help make that even easier..

I've also been doing a lot of research into 1920's lingerie and sleepwear, I think it's just so luxurious and ornate with details and lace; So there will definitely be a few 1920's inspired pieces in the collection.

BTS : February

Hello! Sorry for my unexpected hiatus from blogging, as you may have noticed I have moved blogs from Trendischic to Pamelaparkerlabel, With that comes branching out, and messing around with other settings on my camera rather than just sticking to noobie auto. I'm also introducing a new segment to the blog; a monthly behind the scenes in which I'll share glimpses of what I'm working on, Hopefully my changes don't scare you off!

I've lost all my patternmaking blocks so have been trying to drape my pattern blocks from scatch as I am in no way a numbers girl and can't directly make them. I've also been teaching myself how to pattern make and sew a simple bralette (next will be one with underwire and then cups), It was my first ever time sewing hooks, elastic and straps so I think i did pretty good!

Lot's of love always!
